WHY IS SHE CALLED KATNISS 

Katniss Everdeen is a fictional  person and protagonist of the Hunger Games trilogy written through American creator Suzanne Collins. Its call derives from a plant with fit to be eaten bulbs known as sagittaria (katniss), from Sagittarius Archer, whose call in Latin method he who shoots arrows.
